Addition of a special guest for the Boy George & Culture Club show at the Cogeco Amphitheatre!

Trois-Rivières, August 17, 2022 - The Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières proudly announces the arrival of Marjo as a special guest at the Boy George & Culture Club show presented exclusively on September 4 at the Amphithéâtre Cogeco. This artist, who has left her mark on Quebec for several decades, will perform on the outdoor stage following the Vibration 80 DJ set. A dance party that will remind us of the 80's in all its splendor.

About Marjo

Marjo made her real singing debut in 1975. François Guy gave her a chance by hiring her to sing in his musical revues. Then, in 1979, the Corbeau adventure began. It was her great rock & roll period and from then on, she made it her philosophy: "Life is rock & roll, it's better to live day by day, come what may".

From 1984 to 1986, Marjo made her debut as a solo artist, singing blues at the Bistro à Jojo. Her first album, Celle qui va, topped the charts, selling 200,000 copies and going double platinum. Marjo spent the period from 1988 to 1990 writing her lyrics and melodies in collaboration with her lover Jean Millaire for her second solo album: Tant qu'il y aura des enfants, released in the spring of 1990. Certified double platinum, this album includes: Tant qu'il y aura des enfants, Je sais Je sais, Ailleurs, Y'a des matins and Provocante!

In 1995, Marjo released a third solo album Bohemienne which was born from the singer's inner wanderings (Fais pas l'fou, Ton nom, S'il fallait). This platinum album will reach 100 000 sales. In 1997, Marjo found a new passion: the blues! With her accomplice Jean Millaire, she put together a blues repertoire that she presented in various festivals. Accompanied by the Johnny Blue Band, Marjo sings exclusively in English. This experience resulted in a live album: Bootleg Blues. A few years later, she reunited with her long-time accomplice, Jean Millaire, and began writing her fourth solo album Turquoise.

Marjo has to her credit some sixty songs written and composed by herself.

During her performance at the Cogeco Amphitheatre, Marjo will offer a 45-minute performance highlighting her greatest dance hits.

About Boy George & Culture Club

With a career spanning over 30 years, the GRAMMY® Award winners rose to international fame in the 1980s.

Culture Club was formed by frontman Boy George and bassist Mikey Craig, joined by Jon Moss and guitarist Roy Hay soon after. Realizing that they had a transvestite Irish singer (George), a black Briton (Craig), a Jewish drummer (Moss) and a native Englishman (Hay), they chose the name Culture Club, referring to the members' diverse ethnic backgrounds.

When Boy George and Culture Club exploded onto the scene in 1982, they sent shockwaves around the world and forever changed popular culture. They simultaneously changed the perception of music, fashion and art.

Culture Club became the first band since the Beatles to have three Top 10 hits in America with a debut album and the first band in music history to have a diamond album in Canada. The band went on to have seven Top 10 hits in the UK, nine Top 10 hits in the US and nine Top 20 hits in Australia - including Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want to Hurt Me. It has sold over 100 million singles and 50 million albums worldwide.

The Culture Club band is undoubtedly a living legend with their leader Boy George and they are clearly back to stay.
