Trois-Rivieres, April 15, 2019 – In response to the strong tickets demand for the Cirque du Soleil's fifth Tribute series, the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières is pleased to announce that the Cogeco Amphitheatre will present two additional representations for the show Joyeux Calvaire, Tribute to the Cowboys Fringants. These performances will take place on Tuesday, July 23 and 30, 2019.
"Since the unveiling of the Cowboys Fringants theme last fall, we have felt the enthusiasm for this fifth opus. The Tribute Series has made a name for itself in the hearts of culture lovers. Combined with the exceptional reputation of the Cowboys Fringants, all the elements were present for this season to be very busy. It then seems essential to add representations to meet the demand. ", said the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières President, Roger Picard.
Synopsis
In the heart of a sleepy riverside suburb, as the first Fall coloured glow emerges, a young girl escapes into her fantasy world, carried by the resonant lyrics of the Cowboys Fringants. Prisoner of a world surrounded by small houses of all sizes, she dangles freely on a swing suspended from the beams of an old dock on the banks of the river.
In this soothing place, reality is transformed according to her imagination, concerns and ambitions. Lucid and dreamy, she remakes the world scene by scene, one story at a time, gently building a universe where nature takes back its due and where reality is not quite true. The houses float on the water and twirl between heaven and earth. The trees are made of papier mâché and people are dressed in paper.
Marked by the poetry, passion and humour of the Cowboys Fringants, this hidden imaginary will become reality.
