Trois-Rivières, May 13, 2019 - The Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières is proud to announce the presentation of the Richard Desjardins symphonique concert at the Cogeco Amphitheatre in Trois-Rivières on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. The poet, singer and Quebec filmmaker will perform for the very first time at the amphitheatre accompanied by 45 musicians of the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra, under the musical direction of maestro Gilles Bellemare who also signs all the arrangements of the concert.

Created 15 years ago in collaboration with Coup de cœur francophone, Comité musique Maisonneuve, Radio-Canada and Foukinic, Richard Desjardins symphonique was also recorded by Radio-Canada Musique.
With his sumptuous arrangements, the composer and maestro Gilles Bellemare allows music lovers to rediscover classics of the great Richard Desjardins such as Tu-m’aimes-tu?, Les Yankees, Le cœur est un oiseau and Le bon gars.

An authentic and atypical artist, a key poet in the Francophonie, Richard Desjardins devoted himself enthusiastically to the preparation of Richard Desjardins symphonic. Gilles Bellemare, composer and conductor, is regularly invited to conduct major orchestras. Recognized for his sensitivity and deep understanding of music, he is the author of more than thirty symphonic works. He has already to his credit many arrangements of songs, including those of Jacques Brel, Félix Leclerc, Edith Piaf, Gilles Vigneault and Claude Léveillée.
About Richard Desjardins
Poet, singer and filmmaker, Richard Desjardins is native of Rouyn-Noranda. With his country rock band Abbittibbi he began to broadcast his songs in the mid-70s. In 1990, three years after the release of his first solo album Les derniers humains, the album Tu m’aimes-tu was born and marks a turning point in his career bringing him the recognition of the industry and the public. Will follow seven albums that will take him to perform regularly on the Francophonie stages. In parallel with his musical career, Richard Desjardins co-directed documentaries with Robert Monderie, including L'erreur boréale, which reports on Quebec's forestry policy, Le peuple invisible, dedicated to the Algonquin people and Trou Story, about the mining industry in Canada.
