Harmonium’s world, like you have never seen or heard it | An immersive experience presented for the first time at the Cogeco Amphitheatre

Trois-Rivières, May 24th, 2022 - GSI Musique and the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières will present today the very first performance of the Harmonium symphonique concert series - Histoires sans paroles. Much more than an interpretation of the platinum-certified album of the same name, spectators will discover, from May 24 to June 4, Harmonium as they have never seen or heard it before.

Upon their arrival at the venue with the majestic river as a backdrop, spectators will be welcomed with the sounds of a Dixie band and crowd animation. Once comfortably seated, the audience will be immersed in a lyrical and poetic world inspired by the works of progressive rock band Harmonium and its leader Serge Fiori. Just imagine, Harmonium’s entire repertoire performed by 64 musicians from the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières and the Chœur des jeunes de Laval, under the direction of conductor Dina Gilbert. In two acts, we will pass from mundane everyday life in the heart of an anonymous city to the vibrant, colourful world of Harmonium. Kim Richardson will perform the moving vocal solo from L’exil, while Luce Dufault will lend her voice to the unforgettable song Histoires sans paroles with all the sensitivity she is known for.

Created and designed by Marcella Grimaux (Noisy Head Studio), under the artistic direction of Nicolas Lemieux (GSI Musique), the stage direction and set design will combine live tableaux imbued with poetry and lyricism, evocative high-tech projections and interventions designed by PixMob, which was behind the special effects for the most recent Superbowl half-time show. The back of the stage will be covered with an ultra-high definition video wall and a giant ceiling made in Dubai, which promise many surprises. Engineer Larry O’Mally, a symphonic concert specialist, will oversee the sound quality in the Cogeco Amphitheatre, a venue known for its incomparable acoustics.

An ode to music!

In order to introduce the next generation to Harmonium's exceptional musical heritage and to promote exchanges between generations, GSI Musique and the Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières have invited students from music programs in the aera to attend tonight's performance. In total, more than 250 students and teachers from the Pionniers high school, the Académie les Estacades, the Conservatoire de musique de Trois-Rivières and the École de musique Jacques-Hétu will attend this large-scale performance.
