Trois-Rivières, December 8, 2022 - The Corporation des Évènements de Trois-Rivières is pleased to announce that Quebec artist Daniel Bélanger will perform on June 8, 2023 at the Cogeco Amphitheatre. The author, composer and performer is back with Mercure in May, an album that celebrates human complicity and unexpected joys. Words attentive to surprises, to the sudden, to those "little Californias" that sleep deep inside us; music that navigates between the minimal and the luxuriant, with boomerang-like motifs and secret passages: everything here tells of the impromptu, of what escapes agendas and reason.
About Daniel Bélanger
With his constantly renewed musical adventures, Daniel Bélanger is an essential artist of the Quebec scene and song. Totally incomparable in his freedom and his poetic madness, he finds the words that touch and hit home. He has his own way of doing his job that he practices like a goldsmith. He never produces the same thing twice, he prefers to explore the unknown to extract the precious, the rare and the unexpected. The year 1992 marks the beginning of everything with the release of his first record Les insomniaques s'amusent which serves as a launching pad for a dazzling and atypical career.
This was followed by a dozen records, two books and music for theater and cinema. His career is littered with awards (Félix in Quebec, Juno in Canada and Jutra in Quebec cinema) that undeniably recognize his art.
