Trois-Rivières, June 12, 2019 - At the 20th edition of the Albatros Foundation's « Clin d’oeil à l’été » cocktail, Mr. Richard Lachance from Cogeco was pleased to announce the presentation of a benefit show at the Cogeco Amphitheatre where Mario Pelchat will sing Aznavour with his new show Désormais.
This important activity is part of the Albatross Foundation's major 2019-2023 fundraising campaign for the development of its new House in the infirmary building of the Kermaria Convent of the Filles de Jésus.
During this show on September 19th, Mario Pelchat will pay tribute to the famous singer-songwriter Charles Aznavour, revisiting his work. Accompanied by twelve musicians on stage, he will perform at his way the greatest hits of Aznavour that have been heard around the world and have made him one of the greatest singers of the Francophonie.
Regarding the new Albatros House
The development of the new Albatros House in the infirmary building of the Kermaria Convent of the Filles de Jésus located on St-Louis Boulevard will require an investment of $ 3 million and will increase from six to ten the number of patients that will be able to be welcomed by the organization. This project will allow the Albatros House to acquire new physical facilities that meet the current and future needs of the organization as well as the standards of a modern palliative care home.
Covering an area of 20,000 sq. Ft., the new facilities will include a therapy room, a large functional kitchen, an outdoor courtyard, a gathering room for families, offices for professionals and a meeting room. In total, twelve spacious and well-equipped rooms will be furnished and will serve to welcome guests.
The tenders for the construction of the project will be launched by the end of June and work should be completed in the first quarter of 2020, for an opening scheduled for the spring of 2020, explains Yves Gabias, president of the Albatros Foundation.
Major Fundraising Campaign 2019-2023
As this project must be self-financing, the Albatros Foundation launched last April its major 2019- 2023 Fundraising Campaign which aims to raise $ 3M over the next five years and relies on the generosity of the population and corporations to achieve this goal. Mr. Mario De Tilly, honorary president of this campaign, has enthusiastically announced that to date more than $ 1.5 million has been raised in pledges.
About Albatros House
Founded in 1985, Albatros House's mission is to provide free of charge for those who have a serious and irreversible disease the opportunity to live the last moments of their lives surrounded by their loved ones where palliative care is full of respect and compassion. Nearly 25 people work there as well as a hundred volunteers to make it a warm environment. Every year, the Foundation organizes fundraising activities such as the « Clin d’oeil à l’été » fundraising cocktail. It therefore solicits donations from the population, corporate partners and families of patients.
